Visit to Forest Lawn Glendale

 Well here comes another post on visiting a cemetery, or memorial park, which probably sounds less morbid to some : )  We did have a family reason to visit this one but it didn't keep me from looking for some famous persons who were buried here.

Forest Lawn in Glendale was the first to be called a Memorial Park instead of cemetery.  The buildings are beautiful and the grounds are impressive.

Chris and I came to visit the resting places of his grandparents, Hiram and Eloise Kingsley.

Forest Lawn is also the final resting place for countless famous individuals.  I managed to visit a few of them.

Jimmy Stewart's  (Its a wonderful life!) final resting place was really close to grandma and grandpa Kingsley's

It was pretty special to see where Walt Disney was buried.  It is in a peaceful little garden near the Court of Freedom.  Now that was a pretty impressive area!

And we even had a pretty good view of downtown Los Angeles (which is over the next set of hills)

Memorial Day 2012!

Finally posting on the Rose Hills Memorial Day program!    My sis, Allison and I went this year together.  It was another very touching and patriotic Day.

Their was a fly over with authentic World War II bomber planes and the missing man formation.  It brought tears to my eyes.

My sister and I put flowers and flags for our parents to remember their sacrifice for our country.

Thank you Mom and Dad 2012!

As I do every year I salute my parents service to our country!  They served during the bleak and scary days of World War II.  My father was in the Army Air Corps and was the captain of a B-24 Bomber and head of his crew.  They dropped bombs on German military camps. My mother served in the Women's Army Corps and helped in the recruiting effort.  She met my father during the war and wrote him almost everyday. They were married on May 30, 1948 which is interesting to me since it had to have been close to Memorial Day that year : )  I love them and miss them so much.  Thank you Mom and Dad,  I appreciate what you did for our country!

Calico Ghost Town

Chris and I went to Calico Ghost Town on Memorial Day Weekend.  It was a fun day and perfect weather!  Neither one of us had been there since we were young so it was interesting to go back and see what had changed and what was the same : )

For the most part it was the same as I remember it.  When we first got there we went on the mine train to see an overview of the town.

Near the train was the Molly Mine which we took a personal tour of.

Calico was decorated for the holiday weekend!

There were all sort of sights to see.

I also met some interesting characters : ) 

And Chris took a nap while we were there : )

It was a delightful day!

Spring in Utah!

Chris and I just spent some fun grandchildren time In Utah last week!   I don't know how we crammed so much into just a few days : ) 

Here is the beginning of the busy week......

The always gorgeous Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point!   Time well spent with baby Sophie, Little Luke, Chris, and my daughter Julie.

Celebrating Marielle's 8th birthday at the restaurant "Tin Angel"  Mari chose that restaurant because she loves angels : )

Family visits with my girls!  Shannon came over to Julie's house and all the boys got to play and Shannon enjoyed hugging baby Sophie (as did I : )
