Another year at the Rose Hills Memorial Day Program and it was better then ever! My sister, Allison, was able to join me for the first time. She met me at our house then we drove together to Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier. The park was decorated with flags on the walkway and it was a beautiful day!
We visited mom and dad
and then sat down to enjoy the program. A new addition to the program was a flyover by World War II bomber planes. It brought tears to our eyes as we thought about our dad the pilot.
There was a keynote address by Gary Brian (morning show host of KRTH 101) which was great. Gary's father and brother were career men in the military and he spoke about how great this country is.

There was the firing of the guns and the playing of Taps. Then they released the doves at the end of the program.
It was a emotional morning that I was glad to spend with my sister. Thank you again to all of our service men everywhere and to those who served us in the past, especially the ones who did not return and sacrificed all for our country!
